ADRIAN, Mich.--AdrianBulldogs.com will count down the top-10 stories from the 2015 calendar year in Bulldogs Athletics. Thanks to our visitors for submitting nominations on our Facebook, Twitter pages and via email.
Our No. 4 entry on this countdown is a student-athlete who proved not to have a sophomore jinx. After rushing for a team-leading 1,002 yards as a freshman, running back Emmanuel Stewart turned in a record-breaking encore performance with 1,487 yards in 2015. That total came on 209 carries for 7.1 per attempt and led the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, ranked ninth in NCAA Division III and set an Adrian single-season record.
Stewart broke Kevin Bostelman's previous standard of 1,311, set in 2002, to receive first-team All-MIAA for a second consecutive year and D3football.com All-North Region Second Team Offense accolades.
Stewart will enter his junior year already ranked in second place on the Bulldogs' career rushing chart with 2,489 yards. The school's all-time record is held by Chris Clay, who ran for 2,969 yards from 2002 to 2005.
