Top-10 of 2015-16: Thirty-Three All-America Scholars and Academic All-Americans Make No. 7 on the List

ADRIAN, Mich.--For the next two weeks, we'll count down the top-10 Adrian College Athletics stories on AdrianBulldogs.com from the 2015-16 academic year. Thanks to our visitors for submitting nominations on our Facebook, Twitter pages and via email. So without further ado, drumroll please....

The No. 7 entry on our countdown combines brains in the classroom and athleticism on the field of play as 33 Bulldogs from eight sports received Scholar All-America accolades from coaches of their national organizations or Academic All-America® by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Graduated senior Michael Mertz headlines the Adrian standouts as he is the College's first tennis player, male or female, to ever earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® for the NCAA Division III Men's At-Large Team.

Takiyah Smith was a named a female national scholar-athlete for the 2015-16 track and field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Intercollegiate Tennis Association (women): Morgan Spencer, Arielle Williams, Renae Adams Almasy, Onnalee Lach, Amber Laginess and Olivia Neumann.

Intercollegiate Tennis Association (men): Brandon Brom, Mitchel Bulger and Mertz.

The ITA also named both Adrian College squads as an ITA All-Academic Team.

Golf Coaches Association of AmericaNick Hocker.

Women's Volleyball was one of only 140 D-III institutions to be chosen with an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
