Bulldogs Tame Tigers in First Home Meet of the Year

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College acrobatics and tumbling team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 224.25-166.85 win over Georgetown College (Ky.) on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The Bulldogs' didn't disappoint in front of the home crowd, jumping out to an early lead after the compulsory event and not looking back.

Adrian led 30.55-19.50 after the compulsory event, with an event-high score of 8.80 in the toss heat. The Bulldogs also performed well in the pyramid heat, finishing right behind the toss heat with a score of 8.70. AC increased its lead to 56.10-38.80 after the acro event, with a match-high score of 8.85 in the six-element heat. Adrian would end the first half with a 79.50-57.30 lead after taking the pyramid event 23.40-18.50, with an event-high 8.70 in the inverted top heat.

The second half kicked off with the Black and Gold's best event, relative to the start value, as they earned 24.70 of the possible 27.95 points in the toss event. Strong bookends of an 8.35 in the 450 salto heat and an 8.40 in the open heat extended the AC lead to 104.20-75.75 with two events to go. The tumbling event was the closest event of the whole meet, with Adrian just barely coming away with a 43.05-40.00 event win. The Tigers took the duo pass 8.00-6.15 and the open pass 8.30-8.00 but the Bulldogs won every other heat, scoring an 8.45 in the aerial heat. Adrian finished off the meet with a 77.00-51.10 victory in the team event to seal the meet, 224.25-166.85

Adrian returns to the mat on Thursday, Match 14 for a home tri-meet. Arizona Christian and Urbana come to town, with the meet scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
