Equestrian Turns in Solid Performances in Final Regular Season Stock Show at Ferris State

AUGUSTA, Mich.--The Adrian College equestrian team had its final stock show for the regular season on Saturday, hosted by Ferris State at the Cheff Riding Center.

And the Bulldogs put together solid performances again, including senior Gabbi Novak who placed second in her class to become the fourth Bulldog to earn regional qualification.

The morning show proved to be a difficult one for the Bulldogs, but persevered as the day progressed.

In the beginner walk-trot class in the morning, Novak was sixth place on a tricky horse and freshman Morgan Langworthy earned fifth. Junior Ariel Anderson placed fifth in her class, while classmate Morgan Petriko did not place despite a good performance.

In the advanced section, junior Kelsey Suiter placed third to earn regional qualification through point accumulation and classmate Antonina Marano was sixth. Junior Rachel Kanaziz--riding the same horse as Novak had drawn earlier that morning--came in fourth in the horsemanship class; she did not place in the reining class because she went off pattern. Sophomore Kari Klager was unable to earn a placing on a rather difficult horse.

After a rough morning, the Bulldogs regrouped for the afternoon show to make a strong finish for their last regular show of the season. Kanaziz started the team's momentum by earning a second- place ribbon in the reining class.

Klager followed with a third place in her class, determined to prove that the difficult horse she drew this time would not hinder her placement.

Suiter made her debut in the open-level division and placed sixth. Marano was sixth in her class and had a nice ride. Junior Christina Bitson earned second place, closing the season with her best ride of the year.

Anderson placed sixth in her split, which was the more difficult of the two sections. Petriko made some quick fixes from the morning show and came out to win third in her class.

Morgan Langworthy had a very solid ride but settled for fifth place due to inconsistencies in her horse.

Adrian will send four riders--AndersonKanaziz, Novak Suiter--to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Stock Seat Regional Championships Sunday at the Michigan State University Pavilion in East Lansing, Mich. The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
