CANYON, Texas--Junior Kelsey Suiter became the first Adrian College equestrian student-athlete to qualify in the Advanced Horsemanship division for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Stock Seat Semi-finals Championships, where she went on to finish in fifth place in the event.
Suiter just missed the cut to qualify for Nationals.
Suiter got to the Lone Star State by winning her IHSA Regional division for Zone 6, Region 4 at Michigan State University Pavilion last month.
"West Texas hospitality helped us feel right at home," first-year Adrian coach Jody Prime said. "Kelsey represented our Bulldogs with the grit and graciousness of a champion. I'm proud of what she was able to accomplish this season. I'm proud of all the girls on our team."
Adrian's record-setting season included four Stock regional qualifiers: Gabrielle Novak, Ariel Anderson, Rachel Kanaziz (a novice horsemanship regional and national qualifier a year ago) and Suiter. Also, Hunt team regional qualifiers in Equitation Over Fences, Eliza Simpkins, Morgan Leja and Morgan Petriko, as well as Equitation on the Flat, Kari Klager, Leja and Petriko.
The Bulldogs put a wrap on their most successful equestrian season yet.
