ADRIAN, Mich.--Brittany Levassuer scored three times on Thursday night to lead the Adrian College American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I women's squad to a 5-1 victory over the University of Michigan, as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten and pushed their record to 5-0 on the young season.
The Bulldogs fell behind early, as the Wolverines scored the only goal of the first period, when Mercedes Reyes pushed one past Adrian net minder Alison Dungey with 90 seconds remaining.
The Wolverines lead would hold up for most of the second period until Levassuer tied the game with 1 minute and 57 seconds to play in the second and Nicole Paradis would score the eventual game-winner just fifty-nine seconds later.
The final twenty minutes were all Bulldogs, as Adrian struck for three unanswered goals to put the game away. Jessica Fabbro got things started, scoring her third goal of the season a little over five minutes into the third. Levassuer scored the game’s final two markers, starting with a power play goal just past the ten minute mark and then again even strength to complete the hat trick and round out the scoring for the evening.
Jessie Rushing picked up an assist on all three of the Levassuer goals, while Tara Werbelis had a pair of assists on the evening. Registering single helpers for the Bulldogs were Paradis, Sabrena Camp and Valerie Twigg.
Dungey made 16 saves in the Bulldog cage, while running her season record to 4-0.
The Bulldogs will battle the Wolverines again on Friday night at the Southfield Civic Center with opening faceoff scheduled for 7:30.
