ALMATY, Kazakhstan--Head coach Brett Berger and forwards Brittany Levasseur, Jessie Rushing and defenseman Sabrena Camp of the Adrian College American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I women's hockey program have helped the U.S. National University Team to the semifinals of the 2017 World University Games.
Team USA will play Canada to begin the "final four" on Saturday at 5:30 a.m. Eastern (4:30 p.m. local). The Americans bounced back from a tournament-opening 7-1 loss to Russia with a 3-2 victory over Japan--which won bronze in 2015--to close out preliminary-round Group B play. Russia eliminated Japan and the Americans were the second team from the Group to advance.
On Monday, the third-place game is set for 5:30 a.m. Eastern (4:30 p.m. local) followed by the gold medal championship at 9 a.m. Eastern (8 p.m. local).

The U.S. Women's National University Team is coached by Shelley Looney, a 1998 Olympic gold medalist. Her assistant coaches include Scott Hicks (Miami University of Ohio) and Berger, who has piloted the Bulldogs to a current No. 2 ACHA national ranking and 16-2 overall record.
The Bulldogs trio is the second-most from one school on Team USA. Rushing is the team co-captain with Cassie Dunne from Penn State. Camp registered an assist in the one-goal win over Japan. Levasseur has joined Rushing and Camp with two games played.
Levasseur is a freshman out of Pepperell, Mass. (Lawrence Academy [Groton, Mass.]), who tops Adrian with 10 goals and has a third-team-leading 17 points. A graduate student from Hernando, Miss. (St. Louis Jr. Blues), Rushing has grabbed 10 points on two goals and eight assists. Camp (Rochester Hills, Mich./Compuware AAA), who is a junior, has registered three assists.
The USA roster includes players from all over the ACHA, with 11 representing the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association, seven players representing the Western Women's Collegiate Hockey League, and three players from the Eastern Collegiate Women's Hockey League. Nine different schools will also be represented including Colorado University, Adrian College, Grand Valley State University, University of Massachusetts, Miami University of Ohio, Michigan State University, University of Minnesota, Penn State University, and Lindenwood-Belleville University.
