National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Tap for Saturday

ADRIAN, Mich.--Adrian College Athletics and the Bulldogs Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be co-hosting National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday on the college campus.

Join us in helping celebrate our female athletes by attending one of the four games both women's hockey and women's basketball:

  • Women's ACHA D2 at Arrington Ice Arena @ 11 a.m.
  • Women's Basketball at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center @ 3 p.m. (also featuring the cheer and dance teams)
  • Women's NCAA Hockey at Arrington Ice Arena @ 3 p.m.
  • Women's ACHA D1 at Arrington Ice Arena @ 7 p.m.

There also will be free skating at the downtown rink from 7 to 9 p.m. with the AC synchronized skating team. The venue is located where the popular Adrian Film Festival is held, the parking lot at the corner of North Winter and West Maumee streets.

All girls under the age of 18 will get into the women's NCAA hockey (vs St. Norbert College) and women's basketball (vs. Olivet College) games free of charge to celebrate the day. Athletes will be staying after the games for pictures, so we encourage families to take part in this photo opportunity.

Adrian College is excited to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of National Girls and Women in Sports Day! Today marks a national observance of the amazing achievements and progress made by young women and girls participating in sport.  Participation in sport for young girls provides an opportunity to learn goal setting, teamwork and build confidence in oneself (ACSM). Sports offers many physical and mental health benefits.
