ACHA release (PDF document)

UNION LAKE, Mich.--The Adrian College men's American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 squad is ranked a season-best No. 2 in the new ACHA poll, released on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs--who are also second among ACHA teams with 18 wins (No. 15 Delaware has 19)--hold the runner-up spot after a 4-1 pre-Thanksgiving win over No. 4 Davenport University and a home-and-home sweep of Oakland University (12-0, 5-1). Adrian is 18-1 overall, including a 10-game winning streak.

The Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League has five (of nine) of its member teams nationally ranked, and the GLCHL-leading Bulldogs (8-1) top that group in the ACHA landscape.

Minot State University won all three of its road games in Colorado to retain the No. 1 ranking for the fourth consecutive week. The Beavers are 14-1-1 on the season.

The ACHA uses the two computer rankings generated by USHSHO.com, Ranking A (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 7) and Ranking B (Wins with Maximum Goal Differential of 1) to come up with an average of the two rankings that results in the national poll, released every Wednesday. Ties are broken using the higher ranked team from Ranking B until the Top 25 teams are listed.

Currently in its 26th season of action, the ACHA has crowned a total of 13 schools that have won the men's Division I national championship. The Bulldogs this season have wins over four previous ACHA champions in Davenport (5-1 on Nov. 10 and 4-1 on Nov. 22) and Oakland (12-0 and 5-1 on Dec. 1-2).

A total of 59 teams compete in Division 1 this season, including three new programs in Arizona State University, Jamestown University and the University of Utah.

The 2017 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted March 9-14 for the first time by the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, Columbus Blue Jackets and OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rinks at the OhioHealth Ice Haus, in Columbus, Ohio. This will be the sixth year of the 20-team format.
