MENTOR, Ohio -- Adrian College's senior synchronized skating team notched two clean skates for a gold and silver medal in the short and freeskating program, respectively.
The Bulldogs short program, Phoenix Rising, set to David Guetta's "Rise", earned 22.80 points in technical elements and 22.38 points in program components for a dominant first place finish. Miami University earned 16.16 in technical elements and 20.14 in program components, landing in second place.
In the freeskate, the Bulldogs were just shy of a second gold medal with their program themed Evita Remixed, besting Miami's technical element score by 2.8 points (40.57) and a program component score of 50.00, for a total of 90.57 points. Miami finished in first place with an overall score of 95.63.
Highlights for Adrian included death spirals, two difficult group lifts, Biellmann spirals, and axels.
Up next for Synchronized Skating is the Kalamazoo Kickoff Classic competition in Kalamazoo, Mich., hosted by the Greater Kalamazoo Skating Association. Senior, Collegiate, and Open Collegiate will compete on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Wings Stadium.
