Men's Track and Field Sweeps MIAA Awards

FREELAND, Mich. – The Adrian College men's track and field program swept the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) weekly awards this week, with sophomore Daz Lawrence being named the Field Athlete of the Week and the 4x100 team, consisting of seniors Jordan Davis and Randy Fry and sophomores Marcus Higginbottom and Donovan Ervin was tabbed as the Track Athlete(s) of the Week.

This year's relay team returns all four runners on last year's All-American team that placed fifth in nationals and has its sight set on the title. The squad put itself in the best spot possible to get that title with its time of 41.16 on Saturday at the Tiffleberg Open. That time is the fastest in Division III this year, .02 seconds faster than the mark ran by John Carroll University on March 29.

Lawrence set a new PR on Saturday in the high jump, finishing in second place with a height of 6'9". He had the highest jump of all the Division III athletes at the meet on Saturday and moved into fifth in the nation with his jump.

This is the second week in a row that the Bulldogs have been recognized by the MIAA, as Fry was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week last week.

Adrian is back in action this weekend when the Bulldogs compete at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational hosted by Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
