BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College junior right-handed pitcher Tommy Parsons, of New Albany [Ohio] High School, has been named to the D3baseball.com Preseason All-America Second Team, the website announced late Thursday. This marks Parsons' second preseason nod as Collegiate Baseball Newspaper placed him on its "NCAA Division III Players to Watch List" in December.
Parsons is the returning Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Year after leading the MIAA with a career best 9-1 won-lost record. The Bulldogs ace also established personal records with 82.2 innings pitched and a 2.18 earned-run average--both second in the conference--to earn first-team all-conference honors. He walked only 11 batters while striking out 50 for another PR, and opponents hit just .212 (8th in the MIAA) against the young man who faced the most batters in the league.
A business management major, Parsons also received postseason accolades from the American Baseball Coaches' Association (All-Mideast Region First Team) and D3baseball.com (All-Mideast Region First Team) last spring.
Parsons and Co. will begin preseason workouts later this month and take the field for their season opener on Sunday, Feb. 26, at Berry College and remain in Georgia to play again two days later at Piedmont College to begin a two-game series with the Lions.
