FREELAND, Mich.--For the second time this season and fifth time in his career, Adrian College junior Tommy Parsons (New Albany, Ohio) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Parsons shut down perennial NCAA Division III power Marietta College's offense that had been averaging 5.0 runs per game coming in to just one earned run in a 9-2 victory on Friday. He threw a complete-game scattering 10 hits (eight of which were singles), allowed two runs and struck out five batters. The Pioneers were nationally-ranked 18th in the D3baseball.com Top-25 poll just eight days ago.
For the season, the business management major leads the MIAA with 23 strikeouts, is tied for first in wins (2-1) and ranks fifth with a 1.50 earned-run average. Parsons has not issued a single walk in 24 innings on the mound so far.
Parsons also earned the season's first MIAA Pitcher of the Week on March 6.
