BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Senior Ryan Dorow (South Haven [Mich.] High School) represented Adrian College on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for the second time in a row at the shortstop position, as the website made the announcement late Monday. The seventh week covered games of March 20-26.
Dorow--a four-time D3baseball TOW honoree in his career--continued his torrid hitting during Adrian's 2-0 week that included a home sweep over Olivet College to open MIAA play, leading the team in hits (5), batting average (.625), on-base percentage (.625) and slugging (1.125). The sports management major tied the school mark for career home runs (25) in the fifth inning of a game one win over the Comets.
The Bulldogs defeated Olivet 4-1 and 20-4 on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Heading into today's non-conference game at Heidelberg University (4 p.m./Video l Live stats), Dorow on the season ranks first in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in hits (27), doubles (7), total bases (44), second in batting (.491), runs batted in (16), on-base percentage (.541), slugging (.800) and double plays turned (9).
In other Adrian baseball news, the 'Dogs are receiving 19 points in the latest D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top-25. So if the poll was extrapolated, Adrian would be ranked 33rd nationally.
Adrian student-athletes have appeared on the D3baseball TOW a total of four times so far this season: Dorow and senior second baseman Brian Killinger on March 21 (Week#6) and junior RHP Tommy Parsons on March 6 (Week#4).
