HOW IT HAPPENED
= Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Adrian loaded the bases with no outs. Senior Miccoy Drzewiecki led off with walk, Mikowski reached via a walk and Killinger had a bunt single to third base. Dorow, the fourth batter in the frame, rapped a single through the left side of a drawn-in infield to plate sophomore pinch-runner Jordan Torrento (for Drzewiecki) and Mikowski to end it.
= The Saints had their chances, leaving 13 runners on base.
= SHU went ahead 4-3 in the top of the fifth. Baker and Schafer, the first two batters, reached via a single and walk. They advanced 90 feet after Bradley Connochie grounded out to the pitcher on a slow roller. With one out, Baker and Schafer attempted a delayed steal where Baker ventured too far off the third base bag, started to retreat and then broke for home plate to score as the third baseman couldn't receive the catcher's throw. (Schafer stayed at second base).
= Adrian knotted the score at 3-all in the fourth when Killinger had a RBI-single and Dorow hit a ground-rule RBI-double over the right-center wall.
= In the top-half of the frame, Ryley Overacker extended SHU's lead to 3-1 on a RBI-single to first base. But junior Nick Cecil, AC's first reliever of the afternoon, minimized the damage by getting John Watts to popup to the catcher to strand the bases loaded.
= SHU took a 2-1 advantage in the third as Kevin Ketvirtis had a RBI-groundout and Baker singled up the middle for another run.
= Adrian drew first blood in the first when Mikowski led off with a single, stole second and third base, and then scored when Dorow reached on a throwing error.
