FREELAND, Mich.--Adrian College senior right-hander Tommy Parsons (New Albany, Ohio) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for the second straight time for the period ending Sunday, the conference office announced on Monday. This marks the third time this season (March 5, March 26) and 10th in his career that the business management major has earned MIAA Pitcher of the Week.
Parsons tossed a three-hitter in going the distance in a 1-0 win over archrival Kalamazoo on Friday to begin a four-game conference series. Forty-four of his 68 pitches went for strikes, finishing with seven punch-outs to move into third place on Adrian's all-time strikeouts chart with 215. He allowed just one baserunner past first base and the pinch-runner was picked off at second--his second of the game. Parsons also tied the Bulldogs career record with six shutouts, which ranks second among active Division III pitchers. His 32 victories also lead active hurlers in NCAA Baseball, ALL Divisions.
On the season, Parsons owns MIAA bests with a 1.74 earned-run average and 36 strikeouts.
