D3baseball.com Top 25 (Week 8)

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College made its season debut on Tuesday in the new D3baseball.com Top 25 poll at No. 25, earning 46 points from a panel of 25 Sports Information Directors and media members across the country. The Bulldogs are the only Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association receiving votes in these national rankings, make their first appearance in the D3baseball.com Top 25 since Week 12 in 2015, and appear here for the 25th time since the poll's founding in 2010.

Adrian has won three games in a row and is 17-2 in its last 19 starts to improve to 20-5 on the season. The Bulldogs are 14-2 in the MIAA to hold a five-game lead for first place in the conference standings. Adrian this season owns a 3-0 record against nationally-ranked squads: then-No. 14 Birmingham Southern (7-4 on March 1), then-No. 4  North Central-Illinois (5-4 on March 18) and then-No. 26 Heidelberg (15-2 on March 28).

The team's offensive production and pitching has picked up as the season has progressed. Currently, Adrian is hitting a season-high .312 (54th in NCAA Division III) while slugging .429 with a .414 on-base percentage (35th in Division III). Junior Dugan Darnell and sophomore Brady Wood rank tie for third in MIAA batting at .375 while senior Hunter Hayes tops the conference with 28 runs batted in and shares the home run lead with four. Led by right-handers senior Tommy Parsons and freshman Jordan Williams, the staff earned-run average is down to 3.43 (48th in Division III). Williams has a MIAA-leading 1.32 ERA for 33rd in the NCAA, while Parsons is right behind him in second place at 1.50 for 46th, and both pitchers top the conference with six victories (19th in NCAA III) against no losses.

Adrian also is receiving votes again in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top-30 with 15 points.

Adrian is scheduled to play at Earlham College--a point getter in this week's D3baseball Top-25 and ABCA Top-30--in Richmond, Ind., on Wednesday in a non-conference tilt starting at 4 p.m.  VIDEO l LiveStats
