BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--For the second consecutive week, an Adrian College student-athlete has been named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, which was announced on Tuesday. This time, sophomore running back Emmanuel Stewart (St. Petersburg, Fla. /Gibbs High School) earns the honor as one of only two running backs recognized by the website for the period ending Sunday.
Stewart ran for a season-high 226 yards, or 7.8 per carry, and three touchdowns despite a 30-25 loss to undefeated Albion--ranked 22nd in the American Football Coaches' Association Division III Top 25 poll--on the road.
On the season, Stewart ranks second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association with 794 rushing yards, 132.3 per game and 7.6 per carry as well as fourth with seven touchdowns. In MIAA games only, he averages a league-best 155 yards per contest. Nationally, he is 20th in NCAA D-III rushing.
With four games to go this fall, he is on pace to eclipse his 1,002-yard total he achieved as a freshman when he made the All-MIAA First Team.
Last week, senior linebacker Leslie Young (Mulberry [Fla.] High School) was selected to the D3football TOW. This marks the first time that the Bulldogs have had multiple D3football award winners since 2014 when safety Charles Fleck and Stewart both won in Week 7 and corner back Ellis Ewing in Week 3.
