BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College sophomore running back Emmanuel Stewart (St. Petersburg, Fla./Gibbs High School) has been named to the D3football.com All-North Region Second Team Offense, which was announced late Monday. Stewart is the only Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association representative at his position and just one of two sophomores on the offensive side honored on the region's all-star team.
Stewart had a record-breaking season en route to first-team All-MIAA accolades for the second consecutive year. He led the conference with 209 carries and 1,487 yards rushing--the latter a new Adrian single-season record. He also ranked second in the MIAA with a career-high 13 touchdowns--12 via the ground, plus 7.1 yards per carry.
In a 38-24 season-finale Senior Day win over Trine University, Stewart had his third-career 200-yard rushing day when he rumbled for 209 on 21 carries and three touchdowns. He broke Kevin Bostelman's previous standard of 1,311, set in 2002, on a 14-yard scamper down the right sideline in the first quarter.
Stewart will enter his junior year already ranked in second place on the Bulldogs' career rushing chart with 2,489 yards. The school's all-time record is held by Chris Clay, who ran for 2,969 yards from 2002 to 2005.
With a career-high 157 yards receiving, Stewart also led AC with 1,644 all-purpose yards--good for second in the MIAA.
