ACHA D2 Men’s Hockey Routs Cleveland State in Weekend Series Sweep

ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College American Collegiate Hockey Association Men’s Division 2 hockey team held senior day at Arrington Ice Arena on Friday afternoon and then preceded to pummel the Cleveland State Vikings, 12-0, in game one of a two-game home-and-home series.

Seniors Jack Clary, Trevor Benaglio and Andy Petersmark were honored before their last game on the Arrington Ice in a pregame ceremony, which was followed by the Bulldogs scoring four goals in the first period, five in the second and three in a third period, which was shortened to a running time period by mutual agreement by both teams.

Dalton Anderson was the offensive star for Adrian, scoring three times on the day to record the hat trick. Of the senior contingent, Petersmark led the way with a pair of goals and two assists for four points, while Clary scored his seventh goal of the season and Benaglio recorded an assist on a first period marker by Zach McDonough.

Brandon McLean was Adrian’s other multiple goal scorer, scoring in both the second and third periods to bring his season goal total to nine. Adrian also had single goals from Stefan Boskovic, Nick Mooney and Adrien Sebag.

The beneficiary of the Bulldogs strong offensive output was goaltender Will Emch, who recorded the shutout while stopping 20 shots.

The Bulldogs and Vikings squared off again on Saturday in Cleveland in a late night affair, with the Bulldogs getting the road win 8-2. No details of the game were reported.
