SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Adrian College men's division III club team entered tonight's contest 1-0 in round robin play, as the Bulldogs faced another must win game against national-tournament rival Colorado State.

Adrian was rewarded for its relentless pressure and eventually struck first shorthanded as Nick Hurite capitalized on a breakaway to open the scoring.

With under two minutes to play in the opening period, Russ Rizzo scored a power-play goal off a one-timer shot off the cross bar, to extend the Bulldogs lead to 2-0. It would prove to be the game winner.

Adrian struck again within the first five minutes of the second period as Myles Maltz snapped a shot for a goal from the slot to open the floodgates.

Josh Dollinger and Nick Reuter also added goals before the period was over, while the Bulldogs surrendered a single tally.

With a 5-1 lead heading into the final frame, Adrian played solid defense and struck once again as Kyle Powell wristed a top-shelf shot off an odd-man rush for a 6-1 final.

Garrett Knappe made 27 saves in the winning effort.

The Bulldogs (2-0) will face the Rebels of Mississippi State (1-1) tomorrow at 1:00pm CST (2:00pm EST). A Bulldog win will advance the team to the semifinal round as the winners of Pool A.
