ADRIAN, Mich.--After a fan vote via the Adrian College Athletics official Facebook and Twitter accounts, the new NCAA Men's Ice Hockey student section has been named The Barking Lot. That announcement was made by Bulldogs third-year head coach Adam Krug '12 on Friday.
The multimedia platforms received almost 600 votes combined and the results revealed that The Barking Lot as the winning nickname at 51 percent.
"We look forward to having this new opportunity for our students, who help add to our gameday experience for the team," Krug said. "I thank everyone who casted a vote on Facebook and Twitter.
"Our dedicated fans are instrumental in helping us lead NCAA college hockey in attendance capacity annually."
Section A (rows D through G) will be the designated the Bulldog Student Section. The student section seats are FREE to students with a valid Adrian College ID and will be made available starting one hour prior to the opening face-off in the Arrington Ice Arena lobby. The student section will receive in-game giveaways, participate in other promotions, and be included in multiple other aspects of the Bulldogs NCAA men's hockey program.
Students are expected to have the section full prior to the starting lineups and the national anthem. The student section is encouraged to be boisterous and creative, but will be held to a first-class standard as all NCAA sportsmanship policies must be followed.
In other Adrian NCAA hockey news, Bulldog fans can catch their first glimpse of the 2016-17 squad on Saturday at noon for the Black & Gold game. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
