Bulldogs Storm Back in Third Period to Hold Off Trine for NCHA Sweep

ANGOLA, Ind.—Adrian College Men's Hockey completed a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association sweep of Trine in wild fashion on Saturday night, scoring six times in the third period to erase a 4-1 deficit during a 7-5 comeback victory.

= Freshman Austin Bottrell had three points on a goal and two assists, matching junior Dino Balsamo.

= Senior Trevor Boyd had two goals, including an empty-net tally to seal the win, and an assist.

= Classmates Connor Armour and Cory Dunn had two assists apiece. Armour ended 19-of-30 on face-offs.

= Juniors Joey Colatarci and Bryce Van Horn also had multi-point games with a goal and assist each.

= Senior Bryan Yim contributed an assist and nine-for-14 on face-offs.

THE OPPOSITION

= Brett Young had 46 saves on 53 shots faced.

= Garrett Hallford scored two goals.

= Alex Johanson was 9-for-17 on face-offs and Michael Meisenbacher, 7-for-14.

HOW IT HAPPENED

= Adrian trailed 4-1 going into the third period when it used its potent power play to get back in the game quickly. Junior Bryce Van Horn, Bottrell, Colatarci and Balsamo combined for four goals in a span of 4 minutes and 7 seconds beginning at the 8:47 mark into the third period, giving the Bulldogs a 5-4 lead.

= Senior defenseman Braden Hellems one-timed a pass by partner Dunn with a slap shot from above the face-off circles past Young that proved to be the game-winner with 4:28 to go.

= Thirteen seconds later, Hallford scored his second of the night to pull the Thunder within 6-5.

= The Thunder led 2-0 early in the second period on unassisted tallies from Hallford and Trent Wydrowski.

= Boyd got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with a power play tally at 4:58 of the second period to cut the deficit 2-1.

= After Boyd's first goal, Corey and Blake Robertson made it 4-1 Trine after 3:06 gone in the third stanza.

= Adrian dominated shots on goal 53 to 16 and power play units (5-for-10 to 1-for-7).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

= Adrian leads the all-time series against Trine, 5-0, including 2-0 on the road.

= Trine gave top-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point its lone blemish with a 2-2 at UWSP on Oct. 27.
