NCHA Weekly Release

DULUTH, Minn.--Adrian College men's hockey student-athletes Dino Balsamo (Sterling Heights, Mich./Aston Rebels, NAHL) is the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week while Kevin Entmaa (Milton, Ontario/Caledonia Corvairs, GOJHL) takes top billing on the defensive side, the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association league office announced Tuesday.

Balsamo earns his second career NCHA Offensive Player of the Week accolade this season after helping Adrian to a pair of victories--2-0 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday--over No. 4/5 Salve Regina in a tough battle of nationally-ranked teams. The junior forward led the offense with four points and nine shots. On Saturday, he tied his personal-best with those four points--which included his first career hat trick--tallying a goal and assist on the power play while also accounting for the game-winner. He was honored the first time on Oct. 30.

To date, Balsamo is tied for the Adrian scoring lead with 17 points on six goals and 11 assists so far during 2018-19.

Entmaa, a senior goalie, posts his fourth career NCHA Defensive Player of the Week citation after twice beating 2018 NCAA runner-up Salve Regina. He recorded his third shutout of the season Friday by stopping all 40 shots he faced, with the 40 saves ranking fourth in Adrian single-game history and the most-ever by a Bulldog goalie in a shutout. He followed that up with 22 saves Saturday, not allowing a second goal until the Bulldogs had the game in hand with a 5-1 lead in the third period. He finished the weekend with a .954 save percentage and 1.50 goals-against average. Entmaa also won on Jan. 9, 2018; Feb. 14, 2017; and Dec. 1, 2015.

In 2018-19, Entmaa has a 10-3-1 record with 1.92 GAA and .918 save percentage with three shutouts.

Ranked No. 3 in both national polls, Adrian takes a 10-3-1 overall record and South Division-leading 5-2-1 NCHA mark into fall semester examinations this week and the holidays. The team will close out the 2018 calendar year on Sunday, Dec. 30 with a home date versus first-time opponent SUNY Canton (3:05 p.m.).
