D3hockey.com TOW for Dec. 12, 2018

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College senior defenseman Braden Hellems (St. Thomas, Ontario/Trenton Golden Hawks, OJHL) has been named for the second time this season to the D3hockey.com National Team of the Week, which was released on Wednesday. He also was tabbed to the TOW back on Nov. 20.

The only Northern Collegiate Hockey Association representative on the six-man team this week, Hellems tied for the team lead among blueliners with three points during Adrian convincing sweep of then-fourth-ranked Salve Regina, 2-0 and 6-3. In Saturday's three-goal victory, he scored twice on the power play and added an assist on another man-advantage chance. He also had a plus-1 and eight shots on goal.

On the season, the criminal justice major has four goals and nine assists for 13 total points--tied for fifth on the team in scoring. He is second among Adrian defensemen scoring.

Ranked No. 3 in both national polls, Adrian takes a 10-3-1 overall record and South Division-leading 5-2-1 NCHA mark into fall semester examinations this week and the holidays. The team will close out the 2018 calendar year on Sunday, Dec. 30 with a home date versus first-time opponent SUNY Canton (3:05 p.m.).
