Men's Hockey Conquers Visiting Aurora Spartans on Senior Day, 3-1

ADRIAN, Mich.--Seniors defenseman Braden Hellems tallied two points, goaltender Kevin Entmaa made 15 saves and forward Nick Erb added an assist to help Adrian to a 3-1 victory Saturday over visiting Aurora in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association South Division men's action on Saturday. 

THE BASICS

= Records: Adrian Bulldogs 16-6-1 overall (11-4-1 NCHA South Division); Aurora Spartans 11-12 overall (8-8 NCHA South Division)

TOP 'DAWGS
= Hellems finished with a goal and an assist.

= Freshman defenseman Brandon Marinelli scored his second goal in as many days.

= Senior Bryan Yim was outstanding in the face-off circle by winning 14 of 20 draws.  

THE OPPOSITION
= Jacob Holmers scored the Spartans' lone goal.

= Roberts Baranovskis and Brayden Sampson were credited with assists on the play.

= Drew Doyon had a game-high 16 face-off wins in 25 attempts while Holmers was 12-for-28.

= Josh Boyko had 34 stops in the Aurora net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal from Marinelli just 2 minutes and 23 seconds into the opening period.

= The Bulldogs enjoyed a 37-16 shots on goal margin.

= Aurora got on the scoreboard via the power play to tie the game off the stick of Holmers at the 13:59 mark of the second period.

= But the Bulldogs scored the go-ahead goal on their special teams in the third period. With Adrian killing a penalty, junior Dino Balsamo had the game-winner on an assist from Hellems at the 2:44 mark.

= Hellems iced the win with 2:02 left on a feed from Erb.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian also won 3-1 at Aurora back on Jan. 12 to improve to 8-0 lifetime against the Spartans.

= Entmaa has passed Scott Shackell (142 GA, 1789 saves from 2011-14) for second place on the Adrian all-time saves list. Entmaa has 1,806 for his career.

UP NEXT
= Adrian will close out the regular season on the road next weekend at Concordia-Wisconsin on Friday (7 p.m. EST) and MSOE on Saturday (6 p.m. EST).
