Men's Hockey Produces 14 Student-Athletes to the Academic All-NCHA Team

DULUTH, Minn.--The Adrian College men's hockey team on Thursday placed 14 student-athletes on the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association 2018-19 All-Academic Team, the NCHA office announced today. The Bulldogs' 14 representatives are second behind Lake Forest College which has 17 honorees, followed by Lawrence University (12), Trine University (12) and Concordia University Wisconsin (10) also in double digits.

Highlighting the way, 22 men's representatives are earning the academic distinction for the third time in their careers, reaching the standard maximum (players need to sophomores to be considered). Adrian seniors Nick Erb (London, Ontario / Aurora Tigers, OJHL) and Braden Hellems (St. Thomas, Ontario / Trenton Golden Hawks, OJHL) are among that elite company.

Adrian's 14 honorees are:

Nikita Babintsev, Sophomore, Birmingham, Mich. / Amarillo Bulls (NAHL)…goalie with a 3-1 record, 2.15 goals-against average and .915 save percentage--all career bests...international business major.

Trevor Boyd, Senior, Muskegon, Mich. / Austin Bruins (NAHL)…left wing with scoring totals of 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points this season...65+51=116 in his 112-game career...2017 AHCA/CCM All-American...finance major with a minor in economics. 

Niko Coffman, Junior, Chelsea, Mich. / Johnstown Tomahawks (NAHL)…defenseman with a career-best four assists in 24 contests...first year with the Bulldogs after playing last season at NCAA Division I Bowling Green...accounting major.

Cameron Cooper, Senior, Fraser, Mich. / Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL)…defenseman with two assists in eight games...career scoring totals of 7+10=17 in 54 appearances...sports management major.

Cory Dunn, Senior*, Trenton, Mich. / Austin Bruins (NAHL)…defenseman with 5+25=30 totals...leads Bulldogs in assists and points this season...three-time All-American...team captain...third all-time leading scorer among defensemen in school history...finance major.

Kevin Entmaa, Senior*, Milton, Ontario / Caledonia Corvairs (GOJHL)…goalie with a 15-5-1 mark, 2.05 GAA and .905 save percentage...second in school history with 60(-17-3) wins and 1,872 saves...business management major with a minor in economics.

Nick Erb, Senior#, London, Ontario / Aurora Tigers (OJHL)…right wing who is in his second season with the Bulldogs after playing first two at Concordia-Wisconsin...2018 AHCA All-America Scholar...1+5=6 scoring totals in 20 games...finance major/economics minor.

Braden Hellems, Senior#, St. Thomas, Ontario / Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL) …defenseman with career highs in goals (11), points (26) and power play goals (8) this season...18+36=54 career scoring totals in 74 games...criminal justice major.

Dean Hewines, Sophomore, Troy, Mich. / Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL)…defenseman with one assist in three contests this season...2018 AHCA All-America Scholar...career scoring totals of 1+9=10 in 27 games...majoring in accounting.

Bud Madej, Junior*, New Lenox, Ill. / Lone Star Brahmas (NAHL)…defenseman with one assist in four games during 2018-19...2018 AHCA All-America Scholar as a sophomore...3+5=8 in 48 career games...business management major.

Matt McNair, Junior*, Beiseker, Alberta / Okotoks Oilers (AJHL)…forward who is having a career season that includes seven goals and 14 points...14+25=39 scoring totals in 81 contests...majoring in accounting with a minor in economics.

Vincent Paquette, Junior*, Calgary, Alberta / Calgary Mustangs (AJHL)…forward has contributed 1+2=3 in 17 assignments...owns scoring totals of 15+24=39 in 66 career games...2017 NCHA Freshman of the Year...a business major and economics minor.

Vinny Post, Junior*, Clarkston, Mich. / Carleton Place Canadians (CCHL)…right wing who has posted five assists in 19 games this season...for his career, has 6+20=26 in 56 appearances...finance major.

Bryce Van Horn, Junior, Port Huron, Mich. / Carleton Place Canadians (CCHL)...right wing who is in first season at Adrian (8+4=12, 23) after skating previous two with Division I Colorado College...59-game career: 11+7=18...majoring in chemistry.
