Attackman Michael Turner Leads Men's Lacrosse Against Visiting Elmhurst

ADRIAN, Mich.--Elmhurst College jumped out to an 11-1 lead after the first quarter en route to a 27-3 win over host Adrian College in non-conference men's lacrosse play on Saturday. 

THE BASICS

TOP 'DAWGS
= Senior Michael Turner led Adrian with a pair of nifty unassisted goals and five ground balls.

= Senior keeper Peter Dugan finished with 12 saves.

= Freshman Fernando Rodriguez tallied Adrian's other goal.

= Senior defenseman Michael Desmadryl tied Turner for the team lead with five ground balls. He also led the 'Dogs with two caused turnovers.

THE OPPOSITION
= Ty Funderburk led all scorers with 13 points on six goals and seven assists.

= Mac Harden also scored six times and had two assists.

= Carter Meyer won 18 of 20 face-offs and collected a game-high 12 ground balls.

= Andrew Frerich pumped in five goals, six assists and four ground balls.

= CJ Galante scored a goal and led all student-athletes with four caused turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Elmhurst scored the first six goals of the game and never looked back.

= Rodriguez put Adrian on the scoreboard with 9 minutes and 27 seconds left in the opening quarter on a feed from fellow newcomer and sophomore Brayden Adrian.

= But Jake Heil responded 55 seconds later as the Bluejays scored five goals in a 4:25 span to end the frame.

= Heil's goal started an Elmhurst 18-0 run.

= Elmhurst also led in shots (51-14), turnovers (14-21) and ground balls (47-22).

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
= Elmhurst takes a 3-2 lead in the all-time series.

= The Bluejays' 27 goals today are the most in the five-game series.

= Despite the loss, Adrian is still 11-4 lifetime against current College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams.

= Desmadryl passed Mitch Barnard (30, 2010-12) into ninth place on the school's all-time caused turnovers list with 31.
