Men's Lacrosse Suffers 26-2 Defeat At Alma College

ALMA, Mich.--Host Alma College used a fast start on offense and a stingy defense to defeat Adrian College, 26-2, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's lacrosse action on Tuesday evening.

THE BASICS

= Records: Alma Scots--5-8 overall, 2-1 MIAA; Adrian Bulldogs--0-9 overall, 0-2 MIAA

TOP 'DAWGS
= Senior Michael Turner and sophomore Brayden Adrian scored goals for Adrian.

= Senior defenseman Michael Desmadryl and sophomore newcomer Joey Colatarci also found the scoresheet with an assist apiece.

= Desmadryl scooped up a game-best seven ground balls.

THE OPPOSITION
= Austen Irrer notched a game-high seven points on three goals and four assists.

= Chase Hunyadi tallied six goals to lead all student-athletes and he had six ground balls.

= Jared Nycz (3), Tom Needham (3), Tommy Quinlan (2) and Quinton Bortel (2) also scored multiple goals for the Scots. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Alma scored the first seven goals of the game and built a commanding 13-1 advantage by halftime.

= The Scots outshot the Bulldogs 68 to 10 and won 22 of 31 face-offs.

= Adrian put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with 5 minutes and 59 seconds left in the first quarter on a man-up goal. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
= Adrian still leads Alma in the all-time series, 4-3. Today set series records for goals by one team, most goals by both teams, and largest margin of victory.

= Desmadryl has 118 ground balls for his career, tying Zach Kozlowski (2013-14) for seventh place in school history.

= The 26 goals and 24-margin are the most allowed by the Bulldogs to a home team.
