Men's Lacrosse Wraps Up Season Against Visiting Albion on Senior Night

ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College men's lacrosse team wrapped up its 11th season of NCAA Division III competition on Friday against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Albion College, falling to the Britons 23-4 on Senior Night.

THE BASICS
= Final Score: Albion 23, Adrian 4

= Location: Docking Stadium, Adrian, Mich.; Weather conditions: Clear, 64 degrees, Wind NW 14 mph

= Records: Albion Britons--8-7 overall, 6-1 MIAA; Adrian Bulldogs--1-13 overall, 1-6 MIAA 

TOP 'DAWGS
= Freshmen Fernando Rodriguez and Kyle Sanderson led Adrian with two goals apiece.

= Senior Michael Turner had one assist and two ground balls.

= Senior keeper Peter Dugan made 18 saves to surpass 200 for a career.

= Senior Dillon Kelley had four shots.

= Classmate Greg Stewart produced three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

= Senior Michael Desmadryl led the team with seven ground balls.

THE OPPOSITION
= Brady Lawrence pumped in a game-high five goals for the Britons.

= Anthony Zugaro added four points on two goals and two assists.

= Quinn Dobrzelewski won 21-of-24 face-offs and had a game-high 17 ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Albion led 8-0 after the first quarter and never looked back. 

= The Britons started the contest on a 13-0 run before Rodriguez put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with a man-up goal just under 5 minutes left in the second quarter.

= Albion outshot Adrian 59 to 25 and had a 43-20 edge in ground balls.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
= Adrian leads the all-time series 7-5 (5-2 in Docking Stadium), but Albion has won the last five meetings.

Desmadryl finishes his four-year career with 143 ground balls, surpassing Lido Aldini (137, 2011-14) for fourth place in Bulldogs history. Desmadryl also lists fourth all-time with 51 caused turnovers--including a season-high 26 in 2018.

= Stewart has 35 career caused turnovers, which lists eighth in school history--tying Brandon Parnham, who played from 2012 to 2015.

= Turner has 106 career points, including 52 assists which is the fifth-most in program history.

= Dugan is one of the MIAA leaders this season in saves and he finishes his career with 208 stops. He is the fifth Bulldogs goalie to achieve the 200-save milestone.

= Prior to the game, the five Adrian seniors--plus junior Jacob Stone who is graduating in three years--were honored for their contributions on and off the field.

UP NEXT
= Adrian's season has come to a close. The Bulldogs are scheduled to return 15 student-athletes from this year's roster in 2019.
