Maxwell Leventis Tabbed MIAA Defensive Player of the Week After Monster Collegiate Debut

FREELAND, Mich.--Adrian College freshman midfielder Maxwell Leventis (Howell High School) is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week ending Sunday, the MIAA office announced on Monday. Leventis is the first Bulldogs men's lacrosse player to receive the honor in four years.

In his collegiate debut, Leventis shined in the face-off "X" by winning 23 of 30 attempts with a game-high 18 ground balls to help with Adrian's possession game despite a tough 14-13 road loss to Wabash. His ground ball totals and face-off wins both rank No. 2 in Adrian single-game history by Mitch Barnard's marks of 19 and 24, respectively, against Mount St. Joseph on May 08, 2011. Leventis played an integral role in the Bulldogs' comeback attempt that saw them trail 12-6 in the middle of the third quarter.

The marketing major leads the MIAA in both face-off wins and percentage at .767 after the second week of the season.
