USILA Team of the Week for Week #3

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--On the heels of his first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week award handed out yesterday, Adrian College freshman midfielder Maxwell Leventis (Howell High School) becomes the first Bulldog ever to be named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced on Tuesday. Leventis also is just the third MIAA representative in history to earn the USILA honor.

In his collegiate debut, Leventis shined in the face-off "X" by winning 23 of 30 attempts with a game-high 18 ground balls to help with Adrian's possession game despite a tough 14-13 road loss to Wabash. His ground ball totals and face-off wins both rank No. 2 in Adrian single-game history by Mitch Barnard's marks of 19 and 24, respectively, against Mount St. Joseph on May 08, 2011. Leventis played an integral role in the Bulldogs' comeback attempt that saw them trail 12-6 in the middle of the third quarter.

The 18 ground balls led the nation among USILA weekly award nominees during the week, too.

The marketing major leads the MIAA in both face-off wins and percentage at .767 after the second week of the season.
