Men's Soccer Loses Heart-breaker

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's soccer team gave up four goals in the second half to lose in heartbreaking fashion, 4-3, to Michigan Dearborn on Saturday afternoon. Tad Davis (junior, Trenton, Mich.) scored twice for the Bulldogs in the losing effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Davis put Adrian on the scoreboard in the seventh minute with an unassisted goal to give the Bulldogs the early lead, 1-0. He scored again at the 11:00 mark of the first half to give Adrian a 2-0 cushion. The Bulldogs outshot the Wolverines 10-2 at halftime. They also had the edge in corner kicks 3-1.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Brad Squires (sophomore, Interlochen, Mich.) scored off Mike Osorio's (sophomore, Leland, Mich.) rebounded shot to increase the Adrian lead to 3-0. Mich.-Dearborn's Jacob Drzyzga headed the ball past goalkeeper Luke Warrick (L, 0-1) off a corner kick by teammate Tanner Wallace to cut the Bulldog lead to two in the 61st minute.

Kevin Gondoly scored and unassisted goal in the 68th minute to bring the Wolverines within one score of tying the game. Gondoly scored his second goal in the 73rd minute to tie the game at three. Ali Khcheiche scored off an assist from Joseph Georgic with just 37 seconds remaining in regulation to give Mich.-Dearborn the 4-3 lead.

TOP DOGS

• Davis scored on both of his shot attempts to lead the Adrian offense. 

• Squires tallied two shots on goal, scoring on one.

• Chris Stanhope (junior, Dearborn, Mich.) and Osorio each had an assist for Adrian.

Jordan Miller (freshman, Toledo, Ohio), Stanhope, Zach Combs (sophomore, Berkley, Mich.), Garrett Miller (sophomore, Grand Blanc, Mich.), Brandon Katona (junior, Detroit, Mich.), and Austin Andres (freshman) each tallied one shot on goal for the Bulldogs.

THE OPPOSITION

• Gondoly scored on both of his shot attempts.

• Georgic and Wallace each tallied an assist.

• Goalkeeper Dylon DaSilva (W, 2-1) saved seven of the 10 shots he faced in the game.
