ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 non-conference setback Sunday at the hands of NCAA Division II Lake Superior State at the Craft Tennis Complex. The visiting Lakers improve to 2-1 overall while the Bulldogs are 1-2 on the season; both of Adrian's losses this season have been to NAIA or NCAA scholarship teams.

Sophomore Nathan Waterbury led Adrian's efforts with another tough three-set loss at No. 5 singles, this time to Diego Penz. Penz won the opener 6-2 before Waterbury stormed back in the second, 6-1. But Penz outlasted Waterbury in the super-set tiebreaker, 10-7.

Bulldogs freshman Ronald Ducharme also gave Ieuan Lister a run at No. 4 singles before falling 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).

Jake Prime led the Lakers at both No. 1 singles and doubles, not giving up a game all day. After he teamed up with Luis Valderrama for an 8-0 doubles victory, he won 6-0, 6-0 in singles.

Adrian is scheduled to close out the fall portion of its schedule at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional Championships in Kalamazoo next weekend.
