HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian took an early four-point lead in the first set but Greenville was able to quickly tie the match up. From there the set was extremely close, with the Panthers opening up a five-point lead late in the set at 21-16. The Bulldogs were able to rally, and went on a 9-2 run to come from behind and take the first set 25-23.

It was a similar story in the second set, with the score remaining close until Greenville went up by five. Once again AC was able to claw its way back into the set, tying it at 16-16 after winning five out of six points in a row. Neither team would lead by more than one until Adrian broke ahead from a 20-20 set to win five out of the last six to take the set 25-21, capped off by a kill from junior Noah Marcinkowski.

Greenville looked like it was going to put up a tough fight in the third set, opening with a 3-0 lead. However, the Black and Gold were determined to put the match to rest in only three sets and went on a 9-1 run to flip the score to 9-4 in the Bulldogs' favor. Adrian never looked back, cruising to a 25-14 third set win to take the match. Match point came in dramatic fashion – on a service ace from junior Lucas Rusnak.
