ADA, Ohio--The Adrian College had two student-athletes place in the 37th annual Ohio Northern University Invitational held Saturday at the ONU Polar Bears Sports Center. Sophomore Dylan Steward won the 157-pound crown and junior Clarence Kennedy was seventh at 197, helping the Bulldogs score 58 points for 10th place in the event that featured 11 teams from NCAA II, III, and NAIA schools.

Steward, who was seeded third in his weight class, navigated the 157 field with a 5-0 record. He began the day with a pin over Otterbein's Christian Koch in two minutes and followed up with another fall against Scot Laing with the host Polar Bears in 1 minute and 17 seconds. Steward faced another ONU competitor in the third round and won easily over Rhett Roeder with a 15-3 major victory. In the semifinals, Steward breezed by second-seeded John Leark from Olivet College, 10-1. In the title bout, Steward squared off his third ONU opponent in top-seeded Gavin Nelson and won by a 5-2 decision.

Kennedy took an 11-3 major decision over Otterbein's Brad Minnard to earn seventh place. On the day, Kennedy won three matches in five outings.

Just missing top-seven finishes were freshmen Noah Nieman at 149 and Michael Jacobs at 174. Both lost by five points or less in their final bout.

NCAA Division II Tiffin was first in the team standings with 151 points to outdistance ONU's 140.

Adrian will close the fall semester next Saturday in Illinois for the North Central College Invitational before departing for Christmas and New Year's break.
