OLIVET, Mich. - The women's basketball team ran into a hot Olivet squad in the second half on Wednesday as the Comets shot 60.7 percent from the floor and turned a two-point halftime lead into a 76-64 victory over the visiting Bulldogs.
Senior LaQwana Dockery continues to shine in her final season scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. It is the third 20-point game of the season and also the third double-double for Dockery. She shot 9-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-6 at the free throw stripe in 29 minutes.
The Bulldogs (4-4, 2-1 MIAA) came into the game averaging 70.5 points per game in two conference games. Adrian shot 43.6 percent during those games but shot 32.4 percent against Olivet going 24-of-74 including 8-of-28 behind the arc. The team also could not find their free throw touch going 8-of-20.
Olivet did most of their scoring inside with 44 points in the paint. Stefanie Lang scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Comets. Heather Lauwers also had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds in 34 minutes.
Adrian's Jasmyne Owens had a career-high 10 points off the bench including the first three triples of her career in seven attempts. Owens also grabbed six boards and recorded two steals in 21 minutes. Marissa Cotton scored six points in 12 minutes including two triples and two offensive rebounds.
