ANGOLA, Ind. – Freshman guard Brigitte Zavithsanos showed her offensive potential on Thursday night at Trine University in a 69-45 win over the Thunder. Zavithsanos had just one double-digit scoring game (11 points) this season until she erupted for a career-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor in the rout of the Bulldogs' rival. Zavithsanos connected on 3-of-5 from behind the arc and also grabbed six rebounds in just 20 minutes off the bench. Senior forward LaQwana Dockery led all scorers with 18 points and also grabbed six boards in 27 minutes. Dockery went 8-of-13 from the floor and also had two steals. She now has 752 career points as a Bulldog.
Adrian never trailed on the road to improve to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the MIAA. The Bulldogs led 39-18 at halftime limiting the Thunder to 29.6 percent shooting. The Thunder shot 32.7 percent for the game including 1-of-10 from three-point land. Adrian connected on 5-of-8 from the free throw line establishing season lows in both those categories.
Adrian rattled off a 26-8 edge in points off turnovers and improved to 14-9 in the all-time series against Trine. The Bulldogs have also won nine of the last 10 meetings against the Thunder. The 45 points allowed by Adrian is also the second lowest total by the Thunder in the series. Adrian picked up their second road win of the season and will continue on the road on Saturday at #2 Hope for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
