ALBION, Mich. - The women's basketball team had a great day shooting the ball in an 81-77 win at Albion on Saturday. Adrian (10-9, 6-5 MIAA) connected on a season-high at the free throw line (31-of-43) and three-point territory (12-of-24) against the Britons to sweep the season series.
Senior guard Lauren Rhoads continues to provide needed scoring punch with a career-high 26 points. Rhoads went 3-of-7 from the arc and 15-of-19 at the foul line in 35 minutes. Senior LaQwana Dockery recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Dockery scored 10 of her points in 12 attempts at the free throw line and also had four assists in 36 minutes.
Freshman guard Marissa Cotton tossed in a career-high 12 points making 4-of-6 from behind the arc. Freshman guard Brigitte Zavithsanos also had 14 points off the bench and five rebounds. Junior forward TraeVie Shelton grabbed 11 rebounds in 23 minutes and also had three steals.
The Bulldogs put together a solid first half and led 39-29 at intermission. Adrian shot 46.4 percent in the half while Albion shot 26.9 percent. The Bulldogs cooled down in the second half with just six field goals, but did make 26 free throws in the final 20 minutes. Albion had three players foul out of the contest in a game which features 51 fouls.
