HOLLAND, Mich. - The setting of the MIAA Semifinals at DeVos Fieldhouse seemed like a good place for an upset against the No. 1 team in Division III. The Flying Dutch had no thoughts of allowing that to happen on Thursday night however in a 71-48 win over the visiting Bulldogs.

Adrian ends their season at 13-12 overall but did win three of five at the end of the season to make it into the tournament. Hope (26-0) came alert from the opening tip with a 7-0 run in the first 2:26. Anna Kaufman scored a pair at the free throw line followed by a three-point play by Maura McAfee and finally a layup by Melissa LaReau. Adrian cut the lead to 12-7 eight minutes into the half after a Jasmyne Owens basket. The Flying Dutch increased their lead to 29-14 with 6:03 left in the half after a six-minute run of 17-7. The Bulldogs trailed by a dozen at intermission, 35-23, as Hope scored 12 second-chance points and 12 points off turnovers.

Hope upped their lead to 47-27 after a LaReau layup on the fastbreak just 5:21 into the half. Adrian got the lead down to 13 at 52-39 with 10:15 left in the game after a pair of free throws by senior Lauren Rhoads. Hope put their foot on the gas again with a 15-3 run over the next five-plus minutes to lead 67-42 with 4:53 left. That run left little doubt in the final outcome as the Flying Dutch advances to play rival Calvin on Saturday in Holland.

Senior LaQwana Dockery scored a team-high 17 points in her final game. She shot 6-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-4 at the foul line in 27 minutes. Senior Amy Van Gessel scored nine points and also had four rebounds and three steals in 24 minutes. Rhoads ended with nine points with five coming from the foul line in 29 minutes. The departing class scored 37 of the team's 48 points.
