ADRIAN, Mich.--Here it is, the top story in Adrian College Athletics on AdrianBulldogs.com for the 2015-16 academic year. Thanks to our visitors for submitting nominations on our Facebook, Twitter pages and via email. So without further ado, drumroll please....

The No. 1 entry on our countdown is the nationally-ranked Adrian College women's bowling team bringing home a national title at the 2016 Collegiate Club championships in Indianapolis last April.

The Bulldogs' historic run in this, their eighth season as a program, concluded with a 185-184 win in the decisive fifth game to edge Division I and top-seeded Wright State University. Both teams came out of the losers' bracket. The story drew almost 400 "likes" on Facebook.

The final series went back and forth as the teams were tied 2-2 heading into the final game. It came down to the 10th frame in the decisive fifth game where Jennifer Kelly had to double to win the title. The sophomore from Clinton Township, Mich. (Chippewa Valley High School), stepped up and made two clutch shots to clinch Adrian's first national championship victory in three tournament appearances.

The top-16 women's teams in the Collegiate Club rankings qualify for this tournament. Adrian entered as the No. 3 seed and was ranked 26th overall in the CollegeBowling.com Power Rankings.

"This was by far the best tournament of the year for our team," said first-year Adrian coach John at the time. "Every girl that was here had a role in winning this title. They all came together and showed everyone that Adrian College Bowling is a great bowling school and will be for a long time."

Adrian, which also had its highest-placing ever at the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference as the runner-up, produced four Collegiate Club All-Americans and five National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association All-America Scholars.
