CHARLOTTE, Mich.--The Adrian College women's bowling team had a very good day at the Olivet College Comets Classic, co-hosted with Michigan State University, over the weekend here at Char-Lanes. The Bulldogs knocked down 5,822 pins to pace the five-team field, claiming their first team tournament title this season.

Leading the field for the Bulldogs was junior Kayla Clark, who threw a set of 679 for four games to average 169.75. Clark placed first out of 34 bowlers. Right behind her was classmate Jordyn Stone throwing a set of 669 for an average of 167.25, and she finished in second place. Senior Marissa Land found herself in the top-5 again at No. 4 with a set of 656 for an average of 164. The trio of Clark, Stone and Land were named to the all-tournament team.

Freshman Adrienne Spranger and sophomore Emily Moharter both bowled three games each to help the Bulldogs with their success. After bakers, the team took first overall with a 5,822 pin total! Adrian led second-place Ball State by 180 pins and the host Comets were third.

"I feel like it was a confidence boost for us," said Land. "It was the first time that all the girls really pulled together to be the team we know we are. Moving forward, I feel like it will make them realize (the team) that being positive and staying together makes us all better in the end."

The Bulldogs return to tournament action on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Bowling Green State University Falcon Classic.
