ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College women's golf team will be in Battle Creek this weekend for the 2017 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Fall Championships, wrapping up before the 2017-18 season resumes in the spring. The Bulldogs have made an improvement in their collective game as of late, just in time to make a run for a strong finish in Battle Creek. Adrian is averaging a 366.8 in four conference Jamboree events, but registered a season-low of 348 overall in the fourth and final event last Saturday on the team's home course Lenawee Country Club. That score also produced the team's best overall finish of third place out of nine schools.
Individually, sophomore Brooke Symons is ranked sixth in the MIAA with an 81.8 stroke average. The Sterling Heights Stevenson High School graduate became the first AC women's golfer in five years (Week #4 2012-13, Ariel Gruber) to earn MIAA Golfer of the Week award on Sep. 25. The feat marked several milestones including her first collegiate win, a school-record low score in a MIAA Jamboree event, and the first Bulldog in 17 years to capture a MIAA Jamboree event.
Senior Alysa Graf, of Novi, Mich. (Mercy High School) also is in the top-20 of the MIAA leaderboard at 14th, with an 87 over two conference events.
