SWANTON, Ohio--Idle since March 4-5, the Adrian College women's golf team was eager to get back in the swing of things on the links on Saturday at the Defiance College Spring Invitational on White Pines Golf Course, where the Bulldogs finished third in the six-team field. Adrian shot a 348 to beat NAIA-scholarship Lourdes (354) as the highest-placing NCAA Division III team in the tournament.

Junior Brooke Symons shot an 80 on the par-72, 5,812-yard course for a fourth-place tie overall to pace the Bulldogs. Completing the AC lineup were sophomore Hailey Scott (85, T-12th), freshmen Lauren Yankee (87, T-16th), Alexis Weston (96, T-28th) and Audrey Jutis (104, 37th).

Dakota Spears defeated her Siena Heights teammate Jaclyn Fanola by two strokes, 72 to 74, for medalist honors. There were 44 individuals in the event.

The SHU Saints outdistanced fellow NAIA member Indiana-Kokomo for the team title, 314 to 341.

Unlike the last instance, the Bulldogs will have a short turnaround to playing in its next competition on Monday (9 a.m.) at the Steven Tyler Invitational hosted by Kalamazoo College at the Moors Golf Club in Portage, Mich.
