Last Minute Goals Drops the Lady Bulldogs
ADRIAN, Mich. – With 1:15 left in the final period, it looked like the game would go into overtime with Adrian College and St. Norbert College women's hockey teams each having one goal today (Nov. 20) at the Arrington Ice Arena. The Green Knights, however, did not let that come to fruition with a score from the center of the box to the left post courtesy of Andrea Senne. Tarraneh Dadgar had the assist on the game-winner.
Despite St. Norbert (3-4, 2-2 NCHA) having a 5-on-3 power play during the first period, the Green Knights could not capitalize after Adrian's defense buckled down and prevented any scoring opportunities.
After a scoreless first period, the nationally ranked Lady Bulldogs (4-3-1, 2-3-1 NCHA) scored first at the 5:38 mark in the second period when senior Brooke Zaleski found sophomore Nina Laurie for the goal. Laurie now has four goals on the season, standing second on the team.
The game-winner was not the only late period goal that the Green Knights had to offer. St. Norbert scored with 33 seconds left in the second to tie the game 1-1. It happened when Laurel Hill and Senne found Emma Agen for her lone goal of the season off a power play.
For the game, the Lady Bulldogs out-shot the Green Knights 21-18. Adrian could not make anything happen with five power play opportunities, while St. Norbert was 1-for-6.
Adrian looks to get back in the win column when it travels to Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Friday (Dec. 2) at 8:00 p.m.
