Blugolds Upset Adrian 2-1

EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – The no. 10 ranked Adrian College women's hockey team lost in an upset to Northern Collegiate Hockey Association foe UW-Eau Claire tonight (Dec. 2) by the score of 2-1 inside Hobbs Ice Center. The Lady Bulldogs tied it 1-1, 59 seconds into the third period, but the Blugolds answered less than three minutes later that proved to be the game-winner. Adrian drops to 4-4-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the NCHA. UW-Eau Claire improves to 2-6-1 overall and 2-5 in league play.

Adrian senior Olivia Rork scored the lone goal for the Lady Bulldogs. Rork now has a team-leading seven goals on the year. Junior Ashley Gniewek and sophomore Sarah Connelly recorded their third and second assist on the season, respectively, on the score.

In the net for the Lady Bulldogs, sophomore Emily Michelin drops to 2-4-1. Michelin played in 59:35 minutes and garnered  19 saves.

For the game, the Lady Bulldogs out-shot the Blugolds 28-21. The Blugolds' keeper Morgan Pieper had a game-high 27 saves.

Neither team took advantage on the power play with Adrian going 0-for-4 and UW going 0-for-2.

Adrian will look to even the series tomorrow as the face-off UW at 8:00 p.m. EST.
