HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian opened the scoring halfway through the opening period when senior forward Kortney Diaz knocked home a rebound goal with 9:34 remaining in the first. Freshman defenseman Maya Tupper found fellow freshman Kenzie D'Ascenzo in the slot who had her shot bounce off the goalie's pads and right to Diaz on the backdoor for the wide-open goal.

The Bulldogs doubled their lead 40 seconds later when senior defenseman Shelly Czarnowczan scored her first goal of the season. The puck was loose in a scrum in the slot and found its way to Czarnowczan. She took a shot through traffic and bounced it off the post and in to make it 2-0 AC. Following the goal Trine took a timeout to collect themselves.

The final scoring entry of the night came early in the second period, when junior forward Maggie Mitter put the puck in the net 3:49 into the middle frame. Classmate Brianna Buchanan cycled around the zone with the puck and put a backhand shot on net. The shot was stopped but Mitter was there to scoop up the rebound and add to the lead.

It was all Adrian in the two-game series with Trine as the Black and Gold outshot the Thunder 105-28 over the weekend.
