Czarnowczan Named Defensive Player of the Week

DULUTH, Minn. – Adrian College senior Shelly Czarnowczan was named the Defensive Player of the Week by the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) for the third weekend of the 2018-19 season.

Czarnowczan played a big role in Adrian's win against Trine on Saturday, Nov. 10, as she picked up three assists in a 4-0 win over the Trine. She wasn't done for the weekend, as she scored her first goal of the season in the Bulldogs' 3-0 victory on Sunday to complete the sweep.

This is the second time this season that a member of the Adrian College women's hockey team has been named a Player of the Week by the NCHA. Czarnowczan joins freshman Jessica VonRuden, who was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the first weekend of the year.

The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend when they travel to St. Scholastica for a weekend series. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
