Location: Middlebury, Vt. (Kenyon Arena)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Middlebury nearly scored on the game's first shift, as sophomore goaltender Kate Turner was called on early to make a key save in the game. Turner made the save and the rebound trickled just wide to defuse the scoring situation. The Panthers wouldn't be denied for long and scored with 7:28 remaining in the first period to open the lead. The goal came on a shot from the point set up by a faceoff win in the Adrian zone.

Adrian was able to tie the game up with 7:43 remaining in the middle frame when junior forward Maggie Mitter found the back of the net. Freshman forward Annalise Andrews found classmate Jessica Anderson on the point with the puck. Anderson took a shot that rang off the post and right to Mitter to clean up, tying the game at one heading into the third period.

It was all Adrian in the third period, as the Bulldogs scored three goals in the final frame to secure the victory. Senior captain Tory Harshman scored at 3:25 into the period when she knocked home a rebound from a Julia Barrett shot. The freshman defenseman let a shot go from the left point that hit traffic in front of the net before finding its way to Harshman's stick and then into the twine.

The Bulldogs doubled their lead with just under seven minutes to go when junior forward Brianna Buchanan scored on the powerplay. Junior defenseman Kelly O'Sullivan worked the puck around to fellow defenseman Amanda Tomasek. The freshman then found Buchanan in the slot to add the insurance tally. Adrian then iced the game with 1:17 to go when senior forward Hannah Dalrymple scored on an empty net to secure the 4-1 victory.

In the final period, Adrian earned its first lead of the contest with 3:25 expired. Julia Barrett's shot from the left point hit traffic in front, before bouncing to Tory Harshman, who slid the puck into the net. The Bulldogs added an insurance with 6:53 remaining when Brianna Buchanan knocked in a centering feed from Amanda Tomasek at the left post.

Three Bulldogs were named to the All-Tournament Team for the Panther/Cardinal Classic. Forwards Mitter and Buchanan picked up the honors for their goals in the championship game and Turner was rewarded for her pair of wins and only allowing one goal against over the weekend.
