O'Sullivan Named All-American for the Third Time

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Adrian College women's hockey junior defenseman Kelly O'Sullivan was named a CCM West Region First Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) during Thursday night's 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Frozen Four Championship Banquet on the campus of the University of St. Thomas.

The Inverness, Ill. product leads Adrian's d-corps this season with 21 points in 29 games. Her four power play goals are the most on the team and the most for a defenseman in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). She averages 0.72 points per game, which puts her tied for 15th in the country among defensemen this year. O'Sullivan has 88 career points heading into the Frozen Four, putting her ninth on the all-time list in program history. If she eclipses the 100-point mark, she will be just the seventh Bulldog to do so. Of her 88 points, 63 of them are assists, good for fourth in program history.

O'Sullivan has now been named an All-American in each of her first three seasons wearing the Black and Gold. She is the first Bulldog to be named a three-time All-American by the AHCA, and each time she has been named to the First Team. The All-American award now joins O'Sullivan's third All-NCHA award earned earlier in the year. In addition, O'Sullivan was named to the NCHA All-Freshman Team and was Freshman of the Year in the NCHA and was named the USCHO.com Division III Women's Rookie of the Year her freshman year, which was the first and last appearance by AC in the Frozen Four prior to this year's.

Adrian plays in the semifinal of the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey National Championships tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET against Plattsburgh State. The two teams have already met twice this year, with both teams picking up a win. The Bulldogs' win in November was the first against the Cardinals in program history and helped the Black and Gold reach the No. 1 ranking for the first time in program history as well. The game is also a rematch of the 2017 National Championship, where Plattsburgh State defeated the Bulldogs in Adrian, 4-3 in overtime.
